Getting the Hump

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

When the Waterloo & City line reopens, it will have 'platform humps', raised areas that put the platform at the same level as the train for easy access for people using wheelchairs or buggies (or who have difficulty taking big steps).

Good idea. After all, the inaccessibility of the Underground to disabled people is a disgrace.

Bit of a glitch though - the contractors have put them in the wrong place! So as the deadline for reopening nears, there's a last-minute rush to take them apart and shift them along the platforms.

Some of the cock-ups we see from management and contractors really do beggar belief.
