It's official: the Infracos are rubbish

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Well, you could knock us down with a feather. TfL's second annual report on the PPP has stated that the Infracos' performance is "not good enough".

Now, why could they possibly think that? Perhaps because:

  • the track renewals programme is 31% lower than the Infracos promised in their PPP bids
  • overruns are up 35%, now averaging more than one per week.

The companies themselves continue to impress no-one, with Metronet on its third chief executive in two years. Oddly, though, they are still managing to make a whacking profit, TubeLines coining it to the tune of over £1m per week. Tubeworker welcomes suggestions as to how that money might be better spent - bringing back guards? a decent pay rise? removing the strings from the 35-hour week?
