A good news from Bakerloo North, the cover group encompassing all stations on the Bakerloo line north of Queen's Park, as union pressure over local staffing arrangements has yielded results.

Despite a network-wide agreement that all stations must implement local staffing arrangements to eliminate non-essential work, minimise numbers in the workplace, and maximise distancing, some managers have imposed returns to full pre-pandemic working. Bakerloo North did this on 17 May.

Rather than just accepting the imposition, local reps from RMT and TSSA kept up the pressure, and the issue was discussed in the RMT Bakerloo branch. A new local arrangement has now been ratified, which ensures reduced hours and shifts.

It'll need to be kept under review, and reps are continuing to press for improvements, but overall, it's a good lesson in not giving up, and how sustained pressure can bear fruit.
