KX7 - Waste of Time?

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Readers will recall that LUL management got themselves in a right fluster about seven Kings Cross SAMFs who walked out of the ticket office for 40 minutes in protest at the SRT being used to cover a rostered duty.

Note that time: 40 minutes. Management are now dragging each and every one of them through a disciplinary process which is taking several hours for each of them - and therefore several hours out of the ticket office - plus, of course, their reps' time and the managers' time. The process is so farcical that even though they are being 'tried' individually, they are all getting the same sentence - a one-year warning. And when one SAMF in particular clearly had no case to answer to, the manager announced that all seven were collectively guilty, so she would get the warning anyway.

We can only conclude that this really matters to management. It is about a lot more than windows closed for 40 minutes by SAMFs who went and helped customers in the ticket hall instead. It is about giving a message to all of us that insubordination will not be tolerated, that we need to know our place, that we shouldn't have opinions or self-respect, that this company is run on a master-and-servant basis.
