Defend Sherelle Cadogan!

Sherelle Cadogan

Sherelle Cadogan, an I/O and Aslef member, has been given a 12 month suspended dismissal for challenging racism!

A manager posted racist comments on social media, including disparaging Black Lives Matter. Sherelle and others quite rightly, challenged the comments. While the Manager was reported for their racist comments, Sherelle, and only Sherelle, found herself disciplined as well in a counter-complaint from the manager!

This is an extremely worrying precedent for the company to set. We could all face disciplinary action for standing up to racism. A petition has been started to support Sherelle here.

As Tubeworker understands it, the manager made a series of posts on social media disparaging Black Lives Matter, these included sharing an image saying "No-one rioted in the UK when two black men hacked Lee Rigby to death. Where were you all then? 'All lives matter'"
