Back to normal?

With shops reopening, and the worst of the pandemic, in terms of death rates and the rates of new infections, hopefully behind us, some LU managers appear to fee licensed to push for a return to our normal, pre-pandemic ways of working.

On stations, we've seen Area Managers try to unilaterally rip up revised working arrangements, implemented to eliminate non-essential work and maximising distancing in the workplace, despite a clear company-wide agreement that these should remain in place. Reps have pushed back, and mostly these managers' attempts have been rebuffed. We've also seen some managers put out emails insisting CSAs work from the gateline and the ticket hall rather than from behind glass, in GLAPs or control rooms.

Elsewhere, maverick CSMs are setting up LDIs, even though company policy to suspend local disciplinaries remains in place.

Some managers clearly need reminding that, whilst we re hopefully over the worst, we are in no way out of the woods. We won't be back to "normal" for many months, maybe years, and additional safety measures will need to remain in place.
