No excuses on isolation pay for cleaners

It seems ABM is attempting to weasel out of its commitment to pay all cleaners full pay for periods of sickness and self-isolation.

Managers are instructing workers to apply to their local councils for the £500 self-isolation grant, and saying ABM will top up any remainder, or that they’ll only pay if the councils refuse. But delays in the administration of the grant, and turnaround times between informing ABM and payments actually being made, mean there can be periods where cleaners are short paid, putting time-sensitive payments such as rent and bills at risk.

This is unacceptable. RMT reps have rightly challenged this, both with ABM and with London Underground. ABM must pay in full for sickness and self-isolation, on time, every time.
