Safety first in mini-outbreaks

With the pandemic very much still ongoing, we're bound to see more mini-outbreaks at workplaces such as stations and depots, with multiple workmates testing positive.

Management must put safety, and not the need to get duties covered, first.

A generic email saying something along the lines of "someone has tested positive but there were no close contacts, so no-one needs to do anything" is not good enough. Although there are confidentiality restrictions which prevent the general broadcasting of the names of people who've tested positive, managers need to actively identify anyone who might have had close contact with them, erring on the side of caution. They can also ask people reporting positive tests if they consent to the information being shared with workmates in a discreet way, so we can establish for ourselves if we've had close contact.

Workplace safety measures, such as capacity limits in rooms, staggered meal breaks, and reduced shifts wherever possible, also need to be reinforced.
