BoJo and his cronies have obviously forgotten that we are all supposed to be tightening our belts, what with the economic crisis 'n' all.
Our Mayor threw a farewell party for David Brown, the bloke who brought in the bike-hire scheme, at a cost of £6,000 of public funds. Obviously Brown, having been paid £316,655 in his final year in the job, could not possibly pay for a round of drinks himself.
So when they tell us they "can't afford" to give us a decent pay rise, perhaps we'll remind them of this. And of the £2,338 that the Mayor's fire authority spent on a retirement lunch for its director of resources.
