'Trainspotting': an endlessly innovative film
'Trainspotting' has been criticised for glamorising drugs. While not a grim, anti-drugs film, what it does show is why people take drugs: because life is mindnumbingly dull without them, and because the experience itself can be pleasurable. It is also an original, compelling movie, showing how vibrant British cinema can be.
