Stop Job Cuts

Station closures continue

As LUL’s job cuts programme continues across stations, we’re seeing the consequences of understaffing as stations continue to close due to lack of staff.

Goodge Street and Mornington Crescent closed on 13 February; on Sunday 12 February, Chancery Lane, Goodge Street, Hyde Park Corner, and Covent...

Drivers: vote yes for strikes to defend detrainment duties

RMT is balloting driver members on the Bakerloo, Central, District, Hammersmith and City, and Jubilee lines for strikes to resist the removal of detrainment duties at terminating stations.

We've covered this issue extensively - see some of our previous coverage here and here.

Action is absolutely...

Detrainment fight is opportunity to build unity

LUL management want to scrap manual detrainment so that they can cut station staff jobs. It would mean rather than a CSA or train op checking each carriage is empty before going into a siding, the train op makes an announcement, flashes the lights, and hopes for the best.

A recent management...

Aslef calls strikes on Bakerloo line

Aslef has called strikes on the Bakerloo line on 4 and 11 February, after drivers voted 99% in favour of industrial action short of strikes, and 95% in favour of strikes, on an 80% turnout. The dispute is over LUL’s plan to remove detrainment duties from Bakerloo line platform, which involve station...

Don't help mask the reality of station job cuts

Rosters with reduced staffing levels have already been imposed on Victoria Centre, Heathrow, and King's Cross cover groups, with the next tranche of impositions due to take place on 29 January.

We know the new rosters mean fewer weekends off and more extreme shifts. Their full "operational" impact...

SRT, Victoria Centre, King's Cross, Heathrow: strike on 25 November!

RMT members in four areas on LUL stations - Victoria Centre (Euston/Green Park), King's Cross, Heathrow (Heathrow Terminals, Hatton Cross, Hounslow West), and the Special Requirements Team (SRT, a department of mobile station staff which provides extra staffing resources for events, projects, etc.)...

"Fit for the Future Trains" is coming: fight the cuts!

It appears LUL has nearly finalised its plans for cuts the company wishes to make to agreements and working conditions on train side.

Tubeworker assumes this is the case because they have started a sham consultation. A presentation has been made looking at the 'problems' bosses seek to solve. In...

Job cuts and attacks on terms and conditions will spread unless we stop them

We have known all along that, as part of the cuts TfL/LUL promised the government they'd make in exchange for bailout funding, staffing levels and agreements in every area of the company were under review. This wasn't idle speculation, bosses said so explicitly in talks with our unions.

The 600...

Station staff: no OT from 20-26 November!

RMT has called an overtime ban on stations from 20-26 November.

It's time-limited, timed to support members on three areas - King's Cross, Heathrow, and the Special Requirements Team (SRT) - where workers plan to take action to protest the imposition of new rosters and a new framework, in the case...

"Cost neutral"?

As LU pushes ahead with its plans for job cuts on stations, local reps are consulting members on the company's proposals. The pack issued to reps tells them that any proposed changes "must be cost neutral". They've even put it in bold, in case we miss it.

In other words, the company views its cuts...
