Pay awards and disputes

Pay Back!

Thanks LU for our back-pay. In these tough times, it will surely come in handy for Xmas.

But we're not getting down on our knees in gratitude. That money has been owed us since April. It barely keeps pace with soaring costs. We're not feeling rich right now!

We've seen the ugly plans you...

Unions Recommend Accepting Long-Term Pay Deal

All four trade unions on London Underground - ASLEF, RMT, TSSA and Unite - are recommending their members accept the company's latest pay and conditions offer: 5% (ie. RPI minus 0.5%) this year, followed by RPI+0.5% (minimum 2%) for the next three years.

A meeting of RMT reps voted that the union...

LU Pay - Reject Five-Year Deal!

LU claims its latest pay offer guarantees us security for the next five years (below inflation this year, 0.25 above inflation years two to four and 0.5 above for year five).

Does this sound like security to you? It’s like asking us to roll an unfair dice, to gamble when the odds have been set...

One By One

Bakerloo Line drivers have been pulled in one by one for a 'chat' with managers to find out what they think of the pay deal. If they hope to find staff willing to accept the deal, they will be disappointed. The overwhelming feeling is that the money isn't good enough and we should oppose a five year...

Pay: Unity Can Win

It seems that ASLEF’s efforts at single-union talks with management have proved fruitless, with LU giving a firm no to the demand for pay enhancements for Boxing Day. There are a few small moves about people on career breaks and whether you work on public holidays, but if we want a decent deal on...

Not Satisfied!

It seems that we have missed out on our CSS bonus for the first quarter, as we scored only 79, one short of the target of 80.

Now, let's think ... Why could that be? Frequent breakdowns and delays? Savage stations job cuts meaning that passengers can't find anyone to help when they need it?

Not...

Pay: Don't Divide the Grades!

Word from the latest pay talks is that management may be trying to give a better deal to drivers than to other grades, and to begin separate negotiations for drivers. Our unions should resist this, as it will divide us and damage us all in the long term.

One possibility is enhanced pay for working...

Pay offer: still an insult

So, London Underground has upped its pay offer from 4% in the first year to 4.5%. It's still a five year offer, with RPI+0.25% in the following five years. It's still a pay cut, still an insult, and they can still poke it.

The unions have recently won above-inflation pay deals on Network Rail and...

Poke Your Pay Insult

London Underground has finally tabled its pay offer - two weeks after we were due to have started receiving this year's rise! But it's not a rise - it's a pay cut: when inflation is 5.5%, a 4% 'rise' means that our pay does not keep up with rising prices, so we are worse off.

And the company has...

Think a Four-Day Week is 'Unrealistic'?! Read This!

Tubeworker has long campaigned for our unions to fight for a four-day week. This demand is included in the RMT/TSSA/Unite pay claim for this year.

Some people say it is a pipe dream, unrealistic, utopian. But the fact is that a four-day week is commonplace on for drivers on the mainline railway...
