Piccadilly line

Flattened Out

It was another autumn/winter of flats on the Piccadilly line, with some days seeing multiple trains being pulled out of service due to the noise.

Management still seem in denial about the scale of any problem. The controllers never suffer from the noise so they won't ever tell us to take a train...

Severe Delays

In news that came as a shock to no one, the date for the new Piccadilly line trains entering full service has been pushed back.

While the first train is still due before the end of 2025 (original date: 2014), the company say that with only half the money promised by government, they've had to push...

Vote to strike in ballot on parking

From 1 October all existing car parking for Acton Town District line drivers and REW Acton Works will be removed. RMT is now balloting over the issue. The new and very expensive housing development on Bollo Lane had parking for staff rejected at the planning stage. Management chose not to appeal...

Wash our windscreens!

After a period where the outside of the Picc trains were gathering more and more dust it is now the windscreens which need attention. More and more blotches, stains, marks, dirt and grime are making our already yellowing windscreens even worse to see out of. Couple this with terrible windscreen...

Stations need staff

As station cuts continue to hit us all over the Combine two stations with no staff including a terminus could put staff and passengers at risk. Lifts couldn’t operate at either station. If a driver had to take a train into a depot and couldn’t have got a passenger off a train, we’d have been on our...

The case of the disappearing diamond

With the upgrading of sidings and depots ready for the ever delayed new trains, some work has moved a bit too quickly. Once the 7 car marker was removed from Wood Green sidings, drivers could still rely on the stopping mark in the 4 foot… until that also disappeared until safety reps flagged up...

Minor delays because of...

...Train cancellations. An almost endless update over the radio now particularly on weekends. On 11 March by the time the night turn controllers had booked on there were apparently 69 ONAs on the Picc. Often the service is running with upto 40 but why the big increase? What do management plan to do...

Missing the point(s)

For more than a month the Piccadilly line had had two sets of points out of action. At both South Harrow and Northfields trains have been restricted by one fewer reversing move and all Heathrow trains have been forced down the local at Acton Town.

This was causing delays as all the Heathrow and...

Keep it clean!

Staff and passengers on the Piccadilly line will have spotted that the trains are starting to get pretty mucky. Plenty of "clean me" messages, and some rather more obscene, means we seem to be heading for maybe a spring clean if we are lucky.

The train wash at Cockfosters is not yet back in use...

A load of Bollo...

Management's continued reluctance to do almost anything about the state of Bollo House train depot on the Piccadilly line was under renewed pressure when we got no hot water one nippy Tuesday morning.

Along with machines with no food, doors that won't stay quiet and mice falling through the...
